One thing starting to show through in my photography is the incredible synchronicity with which things fall into place when you are following the right path in life. This photo was taken right before the puck dropped for Game one of the 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Columbus Blue Jackets.

I had a date lined up that night to go watch the game at a bar wih a girl who was a huge Penguins fan. I won a pair of tickets in an office giveaway and was able to call her up to say “I found a better place to watch the game tonight if you’re interested.” I made a print of this image for my generous benefactor to hang alongside the numerous signed jerseys and other memorabilia in his man cave.

I would go on to have the the most grizzly playoff beard of my life, full of salt and sand after spending a week camping on a North Carolina barrier island when the Penguins went on to win the Stanley Cup for the second year in a row.
