After waking up at Crabtree Falls and tossing my hammock into the Jeep — I continued south along the Blue Ridge Parkway about 20 minutes after sunrise when the light was really golden. I really liked the view from this spot, the solo tree being lit up by the morning sun, and the sea of low lying clouds covering up the valley below.

The time of day was the sweet spot for capturing the warm glow of the lights on this bike while retaining detail in every other part of the image. This motorcyclist was nearing the end of his parkway tour. He stopped to talk about his ride through “Tail of the Dragon”, considered by many as one of the world’s foremost motorcycling and sports car touring roads with over 318 curves in 11 miles.
